How to submit a document to verify your address

Updated on September 30, 2025

As part of our regulatory requirements, BlackBull Markets must verify your residential address before we can approve your account.

If you’re opening an individual, joint, company, or trust account — and regardless of your country — you can complete address verification by uploading a supported document through the Secure Client Area.

This is the standard method for address verification, and is available to all clients.

What you need to upload #

You must provide a document that:

  • Shows your full name and residential address
  • Is dated within the last 3 months
  • Is clear and legible, without cropping or blurring

Accepted documents include:

  • Bank statements
  • Utility bills (electricity, water, gas, internet)
  • Government letters (e.g. IRD, tax authority, electoral roll)
  • Tenancy agreements
  • Council rates notices

File formats accepted: PDF, JPG, or PNG

How to complete manual verification #

  1. In the Secure Client Area, choose Manual Upload under Address Verification
  2. Select your document and upload it
  3. Complete a quick selfie check if prompted
  4. Submit your application

Our team will review your submission, typically within one business day.

Once approved, your BlackBull Markets application can proceed.

If you’re a New Zealand resident, you may also have the option to use Akahu Express Verification — a secure, instant method that verifies your details directly through your bank.
